Kenyatta University students who were fatally injured airlifted to Nairobi for specialized treatment

Kenyatta University students and staff who were fatally injured in the Monday road accident in Maungu, Voi have been airlifted for specialized treatment. 

On Tuesday, the University Vice Chancellor Prof. Paul Wainaina visited the Moi County Referral Hospital in Voi to check on the status of the students and staff involved in the accident. 

Air ambulances were at the Ikanga airstrip in Voi, where patients in critical conditions were moved to other facilities. 

Four of them were moved to Aga Khan University hospital in Mombasa, while for others were moved to the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Research Hospital in Nairobi. 

The university also revealed that bodies of casualties will be moved to KUTRRH, Nairobi. 

Wainaina visited the injured students receiving treatment at the Moi County Referral Hospital.

The university has also dispatched a team of doctors, medical personnel, security officers and wellness officers to Voi. 

On Monday, a university bus collided with a truck in Maungu. The students and other staff members on board the bus were heading to Mombasa for an academic trip.

So far eleven people have been confirmed dead, while 21 suffered serious injuries, and four had minor injuries.
