A Kenyan woman was arrested at Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for her alleged involvement in smuggling cocaine worth Ksh.281 million ( ₹14.90 crore).

According to Indian media, the woman was apprehended by officers from the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) upon her arrival via flight no KQ 204 from Nairobi to Mumbai on Thursday, December 28.

A statement from the DRI indicated that officers successfully seized 1490 grams of a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine that had been concealed in a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle.

"The ingenious concealment of the drugs involved two black polythene packets cleverly placed within a hair conditioner bottle and a body wash bottle," it stated.

Under the stringent provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985, the Kenyan woman has been taken into custody and subsequently remanded to judicial custody. The NDPS Act is a comprehensive legal framework in India designed to address offenses related to narcotics and psychotropic substances.
