
Kenya Meteorological Department issues heavy rainfall warning in several parts of the country including Nairobi

The Kenya Meteorological Department on Wednesday warned Kenyans to expect moderate to heavy rainfall in several regions of the country.
In its advisory, the department stated that rainfall was expected in various regions, including the Highlands East, which encompasses Nairobi County, and along the Coastal Strip.
Other regions expected to receive rainfall include the West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the Rift Valley.
Counties in these regions include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, and Nairobi.
Others are Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Kisumu, and Homabay counties.
Additionally, Busia, Migori, Narok, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, and West-Pokot counties are also projected to experience downpours
“Moderate rainfall is likely in several places along the Coastal strip, offshore in the morning," read part of the advisory.
"Occasional rain is also likely in parts of the Highlands East & West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin & the Rift Valley,” the advisory further read.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country was forecasted to remain dry with sunny intervals to be experienced throughout the day.
Among the counties that were forecasted to remain dry include Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa, Isiolo, Turkana and Samburu.
"Sunny intervals are expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy," the meteorological department stated.
According to the weather department, Intermittent cold and cloudy conditions were expected over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands.
"Strong southerly to south-easterly winds, exceeding 25 knots (12.9 m/s), are expected in some parts of the Coast, the South-eastern lowlands, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya," Kenya Met noted.
