Kenya Holds The First Software And AI Summit

Preparations are in full swing for the first-ever Kenya Software and AI Summit, set to take place at Moi University’s Annex Campus.

The summit is a landmark initiative aimed at positioning Kenya as a leading hub for software innovation, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital transformation across the region.

The Principal Secretary for the State Department for ICT and Digital Economy, Eng. John Tanui, led a strategic planning meeting alongside Amb. (Prof.) Julius K. Bitok, Principal Secretary for Basic Education, and key stakeholders from the ICT Authority and Moi University.

The discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and ensuring the summit’s success through coordinated efforts across government, academia, and industry.

The Kenya Software and AI Summit seeks to accelerate digital talent development, attract investment, and showcase homegrown innovation.

By integrating education, technology, and entrepreneurship, the event will provide a platform for young developers, researchers, and investors to connect and shape Kenya’s digital future.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader agenda to build a vibrant digital economy, create employment opportunities, and make Kenya a regional exporter of software and AI-driven solutions.

It also reinforces the State Department’s mandate to promote software development as a key driver of socio-economic growth and global competitiveness.

The planning session concluded with a media briefing and a tree-planting exercise on Moi University grounds, symbolizing the country’s commitment to sustainable and inclusive digital growth.

The upcoming Kenya Software and AI Summit 2025 marks a defining milestone in the nation’s journey toward becoming a technology and innovation powerhouse in Africa.
