KCPE, KPSEA Exam Results To Be Released This Week

Candidates who sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations could receive their results this week, Nairobi News understands.

The results could be made public as soon as President William Ruto is back in the country.

The Head of State is currently on a trip to France and Germany.

Upon return, he will receive and assess the report on the status of exams from Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu before the announcement is made.

Machogu had earlier announced the results would be released before the festive season.

Some 1.4 million candidates sat the final batch of the KCPE between October 27 and November 1, 2023.

Also, some 1.2 million pupils sat for the Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA).

The final KCPE class marks the end of the four-decade 8-4-4 syllabus at the primary school level. The education system has since been replaced by the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), and the Competency-Based Assessment (CBA) modules.

Inside the competency-based curriculum, pupils will spend two years in preprimary, six years in primary, and six years in junior and senior high school.

The government has reiterated that all the students who sat for their exams will transition to the next level in line with the 100 percent transition to secondary school.

While supervising the opening of the container holding KCPE examination materials at the Kibra sub-county, Machogu stated there were no cases of irregularities that had been reported during the examination period for KCPE, and KPSEA.

He noted the move was due to the enough security measures put in place by the government.

This will be the second time Machogu is releasing the examination results since he assumed the role as head of the Education Ministry, replacing George Magoha (now deceased) after President Ruto took over power in September 2023.
