Kalonzo Musyoka says Azimio will oppose the impeachment motion against DP Rigathi Gachagua

Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka announced that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party will oppose the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua when it is tabled in the house.

A report by The Standard alleged that a late-night meeting held on Saturday, July 27, involving 21 MPs at the house of a Cabinet Secretary nominee, resolved to raise an impeachment motion against the Deputy President on grounds of undermining the Presidency.

Speaking at the African Inland Church Milimani during a requiem mass for Mbaitu FM journalist Mercy Mawia Mwangi, Kalonzo reiterated that Wiper MPs will reject the ODM Cabinet Secretary nominees during their vetting in the house.

President William Ruto had nominated five ODM CS candidates to various positions in the cabinet, aiming to create a broad-based government. The nominees are former deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya for Cooperatives, Hassan Joho for Mining and Blue Economy, former Minority Leader Opiyo Wandayi for Energy, former ODM Chairman John Mbadi for National Treasury, and former ODM National Elections Board member Beatrice Askul for EAC and ASALS.

Kalonzo condemned the government's nomination of opposition MPs and emphasized that the Azimio coalition remains united in fighting for the rights of Kenyans. He stated, "The poaching of ODM members does not amount to a government of national unity."

Kalonzo also defended his call for a national conversation, initiated by President Ruto, following recent anti-government protests.
