Kalonzo Musyoka accuses Kenya Kwanza leaders of plotting move to select IEBC commissioners

Azimio leaders have accused the Kenya Kwanza government of plotting to exclusively select commissioners of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Speaking in Kwale County on Sunday Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka said the government is preparing to rig the 2027 General Election as the state sponsored a court petition that stopped the implementation of the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO) report.

Kalonzo has now called on Azimio leader Raila Odinga and President William Ruto to urgently intervene on the matter and give the way forward.

Kalonzo said there were intentions of stopping the report even as the talks in Bomas were going on.

He said the report remained to be a property of the parliament but the Kenya Kwanza team sponsored a petitioner to lodge the petition at Kiambu Court.

DAP-K party leader Eugene Wamalwa said he dissented from signing the report after the issues they presented, including addressing the cost of living, were declined by Kenya Kwanza team.

"It is after the Bomas talks we have seen increase of tax on everything. That is why they did not want the issues of cost of living included in the report," he said.

The two have also slammed the government for denying media houses advertisements, saying it is a scheme to muzzle the freedom of the media.

The Azimio leaders have also waded in on the ongoing fake fertiliser distribution, calling for the resignation of agriculture CS Mithika Linturi.
