Jalang’o calls out men who split bills with their women

Lang'ata Member of Parliament Jalang'o has criticized men who expect their partners to contribute equally to financial responsibilities in a relationship, commonly referred to as "50/50."

In an interview with SPM Buzz, Jalang’o emphasized that men should provide for their partners and questioned why any man would ask a woman to contribute financially.

He expressed pride in never letting a woman pay for anything, even during times when he was struggling financially.

"Men must provide. Why are you dating a woman if you can't provide for her 100%? Why are you making your woman pay for anything?" he asked.

"Even when I was broke, I never let any woman pay for anything. That's stone-age, unpalatable, and primitive."

When asked about his "broke" financial state, Jalang’o humorously stated, "My broke M-Pesa balance is Fuliza at Sh200,000."

Jalang’o’s sentiments align with those of Bravin Yuri, who also called out men asking for 50/50 contributions, labeling them as "childish and controlling."

Kenyans online shared mixed reactions to the 50/50 debate.
