Two days after Isiolo Girls High School’s Form One dormitory was razed down by a raging inferno, Isiolo Boys High School that is only metres away has also lost one of its old dormitories to fire.
The fire broke out on Tuesday evening when students were in classes for the evening preps.
The students tried to put out the fire using fire extinguishers but all was in vain as the blaze overpowered them.
The Isiolo County government fire and rescue services engine arrived about an hour later assisted in putting out the fire.
Drama was witnessed for a few minutes when police tried to keep away the neighbors who wanted to assist in putting out the fire.
The rowdy crowd then turned to stoning even vehicles passing by the road, but police soon calmed the situation.
The incident comes as the latest in a string of fires that have ravaged Kenyan schools within the past two weeks.
On Saturday last week, a dormitory housing Form One students at Isiolo Girls High School went ablaze, leaving three learners injured and destroying property.
Before that came the fire incident at Hillside Endarasha Academy in Nyeri County, that caused the deaths of at least 21 students and left others injured.
