Interior CS Kithure Kindiki gazettes Wednesday, April 10 as a public holiday to mark Eid-Ul-Fitr

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has officially designated Wednesday, April 10, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Fitr.
“The holiday will be used to mark Eid-ul-Fitr,” stated Kindiki, exercising his authority under section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act.
Eid-ul-Fitr is a significant religious observance for Muslims, symbolizing the conclusion of the month-long fasting period of Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar.
“The celebration begins with special prayers, known as the Eid prayer, performed early in the morning after the sighting of the crescent moon,” added Kindiki.
