Ousted United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Cleophas Malala on Sunday resurfaced maintaining that he is still the legal Secretary General and noted that those in office after his ouster were holding it unlawfully.
Malala revealed that the Registrar of Political Party’s office still recognises him as the UDA Secretary-General despite the party appointing Hassan Omar to take over from him.
"There was a little issue but I am still the party secretary-general according to the Registrar of Political Parties Office," Malala stated.
Malala, who was ousted after a fracas ensued at the party’s headquarters in Nairobi, revealed that the UDA party was already walking away from the party’s manifesto and the promises its leaders gave Kenyans during the elections.
He insisted that he is still committed to the party and will do all that it takes to get the party back to where it should be in regards to the manifesto they presented in the run-up to the 2022 General Election.
Malala also waded into the composition of the broad-based government noting that despite his ally Rigathi Gachagua supporting the idea, he has been pushed as a victim by impeachment threats.
He asked President William Ruto to step in the alleged impending impeachment motion against Gachagua urging that should the President support such a political move, then he stood to be a casualty to come 2027.
‘’I want to advise President William Ruto even though I know that I should not be the one advising him because Mr President you could be thinking that you are impeaching Rigathi Gachagua only to find that you are beginning the course of your impeachment,’’ Malala added.
Malala also revealed that he had been informed that the impeachment process was set to be presented before the Parliament with Minority Leader Junet Mohammed and Homabay Member of Parliament Peter Opondo Kaluma.
‘’The same people that are bringing the motion, and I am informed that they have entrusted Peter Kaluma and Junet Mohammed with the same, these are the same people who will begin the process of disposing you off your seat come 2027,’’ Malala stated.
Malala asked President William Ruto to call his house to order and move in to stop any plot to frustrate his Deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
He also added that Gachagua was detained by the police and underwent great pain for the sake of William Ruto before the 2022 general elections.
