Househelp pleads guilty to stealing a gold ring valued at ksh 638,000 and selling it for ksh 4,000

Violet Ndukwe Lijodi and Francis Mwima were on Monday arraigned in Milimani law court and charged with stealing a gold ring valued at USD 5300 (Ksh. 683,000). 

It is alleged that Violet, who worked as a househelp in Runda Acacia Grove stole the ring and sold it to Francis at Ksh.4,000.

Violet pleaded guilty to the offence while Francis denied the charges against him. 

"Mimi sikuwa Najua. Naomba hii court inisamehe kwasababu ya watoto wangu," Violet pleaded with court to forgive her. 

On the other hand, Francis’ defence asked for his release on bail as he is not a flight risk. He said he was arrested at his work place and has two brothers working in Nairobi and would wish to be granted an opportunity to clear his name

“We pray for lenient bail terms and the court is at liberty to grant any further orders,” his lawyer submitted.

Court directed that a sentencing report be availed in court and second accused granted a cash bail of Ksh.500,000. 

The case will be mentioned on September 5, 2024.
