Police in Suba, Homa Bay County are investigating an incident where a man suddenly buried his 5-month-old baby at his home in Nyaburu village.
The incident took place on Thursday night with a report indicating that the middle aged man was believed to have buried his daughter alone at his compound.
On Friday, neighbours went to the man’s home where they discovered a shallow grave behind his house where he buried the minor. They alerted the area assistant chief Winnie Boit who visited the man’s house together with officers from Magunga police station.
Upon interrogation, the lone man admitted to having buried the baby in a shallow grave using clothes.
According to Boit, the suspect said that the baby fell sick on Thursday night, died on the same night and he decided to bury her alone on the same night.
The administrator says the man has been staying alone with his three children after his wife went back to her parent’s home for medication after an epilepsy attack.
The suspect was immediately arrested and taken to Magunga police station where he is being detained.
The baby’s body is set to be exhumed on Monday after a court order for postmortem.
