Former KNTC boss Pamela Nduku charged in court for failing to comply with procurement laws

Former Managing Director of the Kenya National Trading Corporation (KNTC) Pamela Nduku Mutua was on Tuesday arraigned in court and charged with failing to comply with laws relating procurement.

It is alleged that Nduku, as an accounting officer, willfully failed to comply with procurement laws in disposal of public assets by failing to report to Public Procurement Regulatory Authority after the issuance of notification of award to Purma Holdings Limited.

She faces a second count of failing to obtain requisite approval before commencement of procurement of bulk commodities.

She was charged alongside Amos Juma Sikuku, a Supply Chain and Logistics Manager at the KNTC, who pleaded not guilty to abuse office charges.

The prosecution claims that the offences were committed between November and December 2022.

They appeared before Magistrate Thomas Nzioki where Nduku was granted a cash bail of Ksh. 1.5 million.

Sikuku was also directed to deposit a Ksh. 500,000 cash bail to secure his release.

They were also directed to deposit their passports with prosecution.

The case is to be mentioned August 12, for pre-trial directions
