Fire ravages Mutindwa Market in Buruburu

Hundreds of Traders in Mutindwa Market, Buruburu  are counting losses after a morning fire burnt down their stalls destroying millions of property.

The locals revealed that the fire started around 2 am on Wednesday. This comes 2 days after traders in Toi market lost their goods and property in a similar incident.

According to preliminary reports, the traders were unable to salvage any of their goods even as some members of the public took the opportunity to loot.

Fire fighters from nearby Kangundo Road Fire Station were unable to put out the fire on time as the inferno raged.

In a statement, Embakasi West MP Mark Mwenje asked Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja Johnson and the City Hall to send additional Fire Engines.

"Our traders at Mutindwa Market have lost goods worth milliins following the 2 am inferno. The aggressive fire is yet to be put out, we are in constant communication with Sakaja Johnson and have called upon Nairobi County to send additional Fire Engines. This is extremely devastating," he said in a statement.
