Family Of The Late Cyrus Jirongo Call For Investigations After His Tragic Death

The family of the late former Lugari MP, Cyrus Jirongo, has called for investigations into his sudden passing, seeking answers on the buildup to the tragic accident that killed him.
On Sunday, December 14, family and friends met in Jirongo's home in Gigiri, Nairobi, with some former leaders, including ex-Westlands Member of Parliament Fred Gumo, reading malice into his demise.
Jirongo passed away on the morning of Saturday, December 13, after his Mercedes-Benz collided head-on with a bus along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
While the driver of the ill-fated bus has since come out to claim the former lawmaker was driving from a petrol station and veered into the wrong lane in an attempt to get to Nairobi, some of his close allies claim there could be more to the story.
One of the biggest questions being raised was what the lawmaker was doing in Naivasha when he was expected in Nairobi hours earlier.

The family claims Jirongo only left his Karen home on Friday, only to be reported dead hours later.
"How did he find himself in Naivasha, driving back to Nairobi? That is a mystery that must be unravelled," former Senator George Khaniri posed.
A family friend added, "Jirongo was allegedly in Karen at 11:45pm and was later found in Naivasha when he was not supposed to be in Naivasha, which poses questions. The family is very suspicious."
Another former colleague of Jirongo, Fred Gumo, called on investigative agencies to make use of surveillance footage to trace the late lawmaker's exact movements in the moments leading up to the tragic accident.
"We are asking investigation officers to tell us what really happened. There are cameras these days. They must have detected this car when it left Karen going to Naivasha, and when it turned to come this way," Gumo said.
According to the driver of the bus involved in the crash, it was impossible to avoid the collision, emphasising that any attempts to give way for Jirongo's vehicle could have resulted in more fatalities.
An autopsy to determine Jirongo's exact cause of death is expected to be conducted on Monday or Tuesday. The family also confirmed that the former lawmaker would be buried on December 30 in his Lumakanda home next to his late father and mother.
