EPRA reduces petrol, diesel and kerosene prices ksh 5, ksh 10 and ksh 18 respectively

The Energy Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced a reduction in the prices of Super Petrol, Diesel, and Kerosene in its latest monthly price review.

During a Press briefing on Sunday, EPRA said the prices for Super Petrol would decrease by Ksh.5.31, Diesel by Ksh.10 and Kerosene by Ksh.18.49.

Following the review, a litre of petrol in Nairobi will retail at Ksh.193.15, diesel at Ksh.180.38 and Kerosene at Ksh.170.06

"In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene decreased by KShs.5.31 per litre, KShs.10.00 per litre and KShs.18.68 per litre respectively" EPRA said.

"The prices are inclusive of the 16% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2023, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020."

Speaking during a church service on Sunday in Nyeri, President Ruto said that the prices would drop by Ksh.10, a move he attributed to the "right decisions" his government has made to bolster the nation's economy.

"Today maize flour was nearing Ksh.200 its now close to Ksh.100. The dollar was Ksh.160 now it's a hundred and twenty-something and still not done. Oil prices as you have seen have dropped with Ksh.10 today," he said.
