DPP Renson Ingonga gives IG of Police, IPOA a 3 day ultimatum over the abduction of Kenyan youths

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has called on the Inspector General of police and IPOA to expedite investigations into the recent abductions.

In a statement, DPP Renson Ingonga directed the two to submit the resultant files for action within three days, which is by January 1, 2025.“

I am cognisant of the State's obligation to protect and preserve the right to life, and the freedom and security of the person as provided for under Articles z6 and 29 among other provisions of the Constitution of Kenya,” said the DPP.

He expressed concern regarding a series of suspected abductions and forced disappearances of citizens.

According to the DPP, the identified victims include Bill Mwangi, Peter Muteti Njeru, Bernard Kavuli, and Gideon Kibet, also known as Kibet Bull, along with his brother Ronny Kiplagat.

“The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions remains committed to executing its mandate as per the rule of law, with due regard to public interest, administration of justice, and prevention of abuse of the legal process,” he concluded.

The alarming reports have circulated widely across various media platforms, amid growing public concern, with the latest case reported in South B.

The two men, who locals said have no significant online presence, were picked up on Saturday night.
