Dennis Itumbi faults former DCI boss George Kinoti for dragging Maribe into Monica's murder case

Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi now blames former Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss George Kinoti for Jacque Maribe's tribulations in Monica Kimani's murder.

Addressing the press after the ruling that found Joseph Irungu alias Jowie guilty, Itumbi claimed that the former DCI boss unjustly dragged the TV journalist into the murder case to settle scores.

While faulting Kinoti for being behind the case, Itumbi alleged that the former DCI boss was so fixated on securing media attention that he used Maribe as a pawn in his political games.

The digital strategist recounted that attempts to explain to Kinoti that Maribe's arrest was misguided and not driven by evidence fell on deaf ears as the former DCI head was fixated on chasing headlines.

"The former DCI boss Kinoti used Maribe as pawn in political games; I hope time will hold him liable for the shenanigans aimed at securing attention and headlines!!! Hata hivyo, to Freedom and a new life!

"George Kinoti was behind the whole of this case, and the arrests, we tried to tell him on both social media and the media platforms that this arrest was misguided and not driven by evidence but by emotion and a rush of wanting to be on the headlines and to control a story that never existed," Itumbi stated.

Maribe who was Jowie's co-accused and ex-girlfriend was acquitted earlier today in a ruling rendered by Justice Grace Nzioka at the Milimani Law Courts.

"The result is that the prosecution did not adduce enough evidence for this court to find the second accused person guilty of the offense of murder of Monica Nyawira Kimani on the night of September 19, 2018," the High Court judge ruled.
