Death toll of Embakasi gas plant fire rises to 7

One more person has succumbed to injuries sustained during the gas explosion that rocked Mradi area in Embakasi, bringing the death toll to seven people.

In a statement on Tuesday, February 6, the Government Spokesperson extended his condolences to the families affected.

"The number of people who have died from the Embakasi Gas Explosion has risen to 7 Kenyans. The Government sends its most sincere condolences to the families of the departed," Mwaura expressed.

Mwaura also urged Kenyans to report any illegal gas filling stations to the dedicated hotline at 020 3313004

He noted that this measure is crucial in preventing similar tragedies in the future.

"The list shall be used to ensure that action is taken to avoid any similar tragedy in the future," underscored Mwaura.

The Government sends its most sincere condolences to the families of the departed.

Following the gas explosion incident, the police earlier launched a manhunt seeking information to apprehend five suspects connected to the illegal LPG gas refilling point.

The explosion caused significant damage to nearby buildings and vehicles.
