CS Machogu announces 2023 KCSE release date

CS Machogu announces 2023 KCSE release date

Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has announced release dates for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Examination (KCSE) results.

According to the CS, the results will be released in the second week of January 2024.

Machogu further added that the compilation, verification, and validation of scores is ongoing.

The Kenya National Examinations Council on December 20, 2023, issued a statement following reports claiming postponement of marking the KCSE papers.

Reports online claimed that the council had halted marking following a request from the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) asking the Ministry of Education to allow examiners more time to compile the exams.

903,260 students sat for the final secondary school examinations, which started on October 23, 2023, with oral tests, and were completed on November 24, 2023.

KNEC admitted errors in the recently released KCPE results after several parents and candidates came forward with complaints.

Some students indicated missing marks for particular subjects, while others were awarded results for subjects they never sat.

The education CS defended KNEC, stating that the SMS service provider contracted was to blame for the mess.

Machogu further affirmed that the results on the KNEC portal were accurate, and the errors were only experienced by those receiving the results via SMS.
