Former United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party Secretary General Cleophas Malala has described how his son and 19-year-old brother-in-law were allegedly tortured for hours by unknown people.
Malala took to social media on Monday to claim that the duo was kidnapped at gunpoint and tortured for six hours in order to reveal his or his wife's location.
He also stated that the unknown assailants wanted to be directed to his home in Kitengela.
"After failing to find me or my spouse at home, they dumped the two along Thika road; I have picked them up safe but traumatised and shaken," he wrote.
Malala has been under political clamour following his removal from the SG role in the ruling party.
His appointment was revoked by UDA's National Executive Committee on August 2, 2024, and appointed Vice Chairperson Hassan Omar to serve as the SG on an interim basis.
He has, however, maintained that he remains the rightfully elected SG, and his ouster is a political move to frustrate the party's leadership.
Recently, he has dipped his finger into the bitter split between President William Ruto and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, urging the president to block a rumoured impeachment plan of his deputy lest he also face the axe.
