Citizen Television news anchor Mwanahamisi Hamadi is among the 184 individuals who will be honored as national heroes during the Mashujaa Day celebrations in Ithookwe Stadium, Kitui County.
Hamadi is being awarded for her popular TV programme Mwanamke Bomba, which airs on Citizen TV.
The programme highlights ordinary Kenyan women who are doing extraordinary things in society through entrepreneurship, innovation, and community leadership.
In a statement on Monday, October 20, Hamadi expressed her gratitude to those who recognized her as a national hero.
“A hero is one who sees an opportunity to serve and help their community. I would like to thank all those who have given us this honour. It strengthens our resolve to continue doing good work for the benefit of the community and the nation as a whole,” said the Citizen TV journalist.
Other notable figures who will be honored during the celebrations include music producer Clement Rapudo Sijenyi, popularly known as Clemo, musician Paul Julius Nunda alias Jua Cali, Professor Ngugi wa Thiong'o, Ted Josiah, Harriette Igonga Chiggai, Mombasa Governor Abdullswamad Nassir, and Treasury PS Chris Kiptoo.
