Catholic priest dies after spending the night with his 'girlfriend'

A Catholic priest in charge of St. Peters Ruai has died after a night of fun with his girlfriend at a Murang'a hotel. 

The priest, who has since been identified as Joseph Kariuki Wanjiku, aged 43, was pronounced dead on the morning of Saturday, July 8, after his lover rushed him to the hospital.

 A police report indicates that the lovers checked into Monalisa Hotel Delview in Gatanga on the evening of Friday, but he started feeling unwell yesterday morning.

The priest is said to have ordered liquor and chicken worth ksh6,000 before retiring to his room.

The girlfriend who also identified herself as the priest's colleague at the parish revealed to the management that her boyfriend was dizzy and unconscious and that she wanted to take him to receive medical attention.

The management proceeded to cover the naked priest in bedsheets and put him in his personal car, a Toyota harrier. 

The Catholic father was pronounced dead while still in his car, which had been used to take him to the hospital. 

The foods and drinks that the lovers took on their fun night have been taken for further analysis as investigations continue.
