Businessman David Langat denies lodging a complaint against Morara Kebaso

In a fresh turn of events, prominent businessman David Langat has distanced himself from the controversial arrest of political activist Morara Kebaso.

Langat said on Tuesday that he did not lodge a complaint against Kebaso as indicated in a circulating charge sheet.

"On invitation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations DCI, our Chairman has recorded a statement at the DCI Headquarters this morning and reiterated that he has nothing to do with the authors or content of the subject online posts," read part of the statement from DL Group of Companies Limited.

He has therefore called for an immediate probe into the matter.

According to the charge sheet, Kebaso was accused of cyber harassment in post made on his X account on September 28, which has been termed as false information and intended to taint Langat's reputation.

In the post, Kebaso wrote: "William Ruto approached DL Langat and told him he desperately needs more money for campaign. DL Langat used his properties as security and took big loans to help his friend. Right now DL Langat is being auctioned by banks and the person who is buying the properties is William Ruto. To make it worse William Ruto has used his power to undervalue the properties to buy them at a cheaper price. That is the kind of person we are dealing with. He has no friend."

Kebaso has been freed on a cash bail of Ksh.50,000 with the case slated for mentioning on October 4.

This came after his dramatic arrest on Monday which sparked public uproar among Kenyans.
