Nelly Chepkoech, the Bomet bride-to-be who has been trending online after 'cancelling' her wedding a day before has set the record straight on the matter.
Initial reports from a screenshot from the wedding WhatsApp group alleged that the 23-year-old bride-to-be had called off the wedding hours before D-day and demanded more time.
Precisely, the pastor, Clement Chalulot, who also acted as chairman of the wedding planning committee informed congregants that the wedding expected to happen at Kapsoyo AGC had been called off and that attempts to mediate and retain the wedding plans hit the wall.
“The communication from the presiding reverend that the bride had changed her mind halted everything and brought the entire plans to a halt," he said.
He faulted the bride saying she had refused to send in her documents to process their marriage certificate.
“It became a toll order getting her documents and it later down to us that the bride had changed her mind,” he added.
This drew attention across different media platforms with a section of netizens claiming that she had run away. Quarters criticized her for dumping the groom when he had already paid the bride price.
Nelly's response:
But in a response shared via a video, Nelly strongly refuted the allegations and clarified that she was in fact at her home with her parents and had not run away claimed by social media users.
She went on to clarify that the wedding was postponed and not cancelled. This, she says was contributed by the delay of some letters.
The young lady however expressed optimism that eventually their dream wedding will actualise after the issues have been sorted.
She further asked netizens to stop condemning her without getting the full story, she also asked them (netizens) to stop spreading rumours regarding the matter.
"Leo ingekua siku yangu ya harusi lakini vile tulifika kwa chairman tuliambiwa harusi haiwezi endelea, but we were waiting for the day like never before. Ningependa kuambia watu wa mitandao wawache kueneza rumours, mimi bado niko nyumbani sijapotea nangoja siku kwa sababu tuliambiwa kuna siku tutaitwa.
"Niko tayari for that day, hajasema alicancel kwa hivo tunangojea siku tuendelee na harusi. It was not cancelled, it was postponed" she said.
