The incident comes after another 50 households were torched recently following a fire incident at Mukuru Kwa Reuben in Nairobi.

Bramwell Simiyu, a Nairobi County official, confirmed the incident, disclosing that the cause of the inferno was suspected to be an electric fault.

He noted that an electric fault was suspected to have caused gas cylinders that were located in nearby households to explode.

"The Nairobi City County Government confirms a fire at Mukuru Kwa Reuben initially suspected to have been a gas fire, but a preliminary investigation indicates it may be as a result of electrical fault. The gas cylinders located in some of the houses exploded thereafter. Approximately fifty housing units were affected," Simiyu stated.

No casualties were reported following the incident.
