Machakos Catholic Archbishop Norman King'oo has accused the National Government of crippling private hospitals in Kenya.
The bishop said that failure by the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) to pay private health providers has adversely affected capability.
Speaking on Friday during the commissioning of Dorothea Mission Health Centre in Matungulu, Machakos, Bishop King'oo said private hospitals are contemplating closure as they struggle to pay medics and purchase medical supplies.
Bishop King'oo called on the government to ensure the implementation of the Social Health Insurance Fund (SHIF), saying it will seal loopholes urging legislators to push the government to pay private hospitals on time.
