Albert Ojwang Murder: Technician Who Tampered With CCTV Arrested, Says He Was Paid Ksh 3K

A second suspect has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of 31-year-old teacher Albert Ojwang, deepening the investigation into the disturbing case.

Sources close to TSM Digital have confirmed that the 23-year-old technician who allegedly tampered with the CCTV system at Nairobi’s Central Police Station is now in custody.

The technician is accused of disabling the surveillance system, reportedly for a payment of Ksh.3,000, effectively obscuring potential evidence of whether Ojwang was tortured and killed inside the station.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) had previously revealed that the investigation had encountered significant challenges due to missing CCTV footage, particularly from the office of the Officer Commanding Station (OCS).

Appearing before the Senate on Wednesday, IPOA Vice Chair Anne Wanjiku stated that preliminary findings showed crucial footage had been erased or was unavailable—raising further questions about the events surrounding Ojwang’s death.

This arrest follows the apprehension of Police Constable James Mukhwana of Central Police Station on Thursday. Mukhwana was taken into custody by officers from the Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) of the National Police Service, in collaboration with IPOA. He is expected to be charged with murder.

Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to uncover the full circumstances behind Ojwang’s tragic death.
