Administrators of the Kirima land dismiss reports on order of stay issued by the court

The administrators of the estate of the late politician Gerishon Kamau Kirima have dismissed reports that a blanket order of stay was issued by the court on the contested land.

Through a statement issued on Monday, the administrators termed such reports on the late politician’s land in Nairobi’s Njiru and Embakasi areas false and misleading.

“There are no orders either by the High Court and the Court of Appeal staying the judgment of Hon. Justice Okong’o delivered on the 23rd October 2023. Today’s Media Reports that a blanket order of stay was issued by the High Court are false and misleading,” read the statement.

They said that the court orders on stay issued on November 22 applied to 58 acres of land only.

“This is the matter that will be mentioned on the 29th of January 2024,” the statement added.

The court on October 23 ruled that ownership of properties was beyond doubt and that they belonged to the estate of the late Gerishon Kamau Kirima.

Then on November 22, Lands, Public Works, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome and Nixon Korir, the Permanent Secretary, State Department for Lands and Physical Planning confirmed that the properties L.R. Nos. 6825/2 and 5908/8 belong to the estate of the late Kirima.

As such, the administrators on Monday reiterated that the orders requiring the illegal settlers to vacate by December 31 as ordered by the High Court, except for the 58 acres, stand.
