Lawyer-turned-activist David Morara Kebaso has reportedly been arrested again by police on Tuesday, October 8. 

Morara confirmed his arrest in a post on X social media. According to his lawyer, the activist was apprehended around 11am and forcefully bundled into a Subaru vehicle, commonly associated with the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officers.

In a series of tweets, Morara’s lawyer, Pareno Solonka, expressed concern, stating, “Morara has just been bundled into this Subaru by DCI officials. We don’t know where he is being taken or the reasons for being taken.” The lawyer later confirmed that Morara had been transported to Langata Police Station.

Morara's wife, Mercy Morara, also confirmed that he had been arrested, stating on X social media, "They have arrested @MoraraKebasoSnr again."

According to Morara he has been arrested in connection with the chaos that erupted at the Bomas of Kenya on Friday. Morara wrote, "I have been arrested over what happened at Bomas. Can you imagine?" 

Morara, who had attended the public participation on the special motion seeking to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, was forced to leave after he was violently attacked. Morara sustained injuries in the attack. 

When Kebaso arrived at the convocation on Friday, he was greeted with hostility. Shortly after he took his seat, he was attacked by an unidentified group of individuals who threw chairs at him, injuring his head, neck, and legs.

This marks the second arrest for Morara in just over a week. Last Monday evening, he was arrested by masked police and presented in court the following day, facing allegations of cyber-harassment. This incident drew significant public outrage, particularly in Nairobi, where he was initially detained.

During his last arrest, Solonka stated that Kebaso has been held incommunicado since his arrest, with officers claiming to be following "orders from above."

At just 28 years old, Morara has garnered a substantial following on social media, largely due to his outspoken criticisms of alleged corruption and the misappropriation of public funds through fictitious or stalled projects. 

His previous arrest involved police confiscating his phones and laptop, intensifying concerns over his safety and the motivations behind his detention.

The state prosecutor has accused Morara of damaging the reputation of businessman David Langat in a post on X, which also mentioned President William Ruto. This recent arrest occurs nearly three months after a wave of youth-led anti-government protests that drew attention to issues of governance and accountability in the country.
