Investigations are underway after a 60-year-old man was found dead inside a guesthouse in the Kapsoit area of the Belgut sub-county, Kericho County.

The man was allegedly an elder of a local church, was discovered on Wednesday night in one of the guest rooms at Simbi Bar and Lodge.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the deceased was accompanied by an unidentified woman when he booked the room on Wednesday evening.

The lady reportedly took the initiative to report the shocking incident before disappearing and cannot be located.

Confirming the incident, the head of police in Belgut sub-county, Mr. Charles Kibati, stated that the body of the deceased showed no visible injuries. However, a used condom was found beside the body.

The body of the church elder was taken to the morgue at the Kericho County Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination, as the police continued their search for the lady who accompanied him to assist in the investigation.
