Two more suspects who were arrested in connection with the macabre killings in Kware, where dismembered bodies have been found stuffed in sacks and dumped in a quarry, were on Wednesday detained for 28 days to allow police conclude investigations into the matter.

Amos Momanyi, who was apprehended on Tuesday, was found in possession of a mobile phone and two Safaricom SIM cards belonging to one of the victims, Roselyn Akoth Ogongo,

Upon interrogation, Momanyi reportedly led the detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to Moses Ogembo, who he said sold him the cellular device.

The DCI told the court it needs more time to detain Momanyi saying his “rental house within Pipeline Estate is still an active crime scene which is believed to hold more evidence, and which has not been forensically documented for security reasons.”

“The scene of crime is still an active crime scene and therefore sufficient time is required to forensically document it ensuring all body remains are retrieved, recovered and postmortem done in order to ascertain the cause of death,”the investigative agency noted.

It further told the court that it has so far recovered 13 female body parts which are severely dismembered and at different stages of decomposition from the Kware dump site between July 11 and July 15, 2024.

The body parts were thereafter moved to the Nairobi Funeral Home, where at least two of them have since been identified by their families.

“On the 15th July 2024, the Chief Government Pathologist conducted post mortem on some of the recovered body remains and opined that the cause of death was due to blunt force trauma. He further stated that the body remains had been dismembered into parts and there is a general similarity in all the victims' body remains depicting a serial killer associated criminal activities,”DCI officer Patrick Wachira stated in an affidavit filed in court.

“During the post mortem, various body samples were obtained and forwarded to the Government Chemist for further forensic analysis and which the results are pending. There are more body remains which are yet to be identified through DNA analysis and through National Registration Bureau (NRB) to confirm their true identities.”

The prime suspect in the serial killings, Collins Jumaisi Khalusha, was on Tuesday arraigned in court and detained for 30 days pending conclusion of the probe.

He however claimed he was molested and tortured by police into confessing to the murders of 42 women.
