A total of 1,427 candidates sat for the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) administered by the Human Resource Management Professional Examinations Board.
The exam, which took place in June 12-19, 2024, saw the number of those sitting rise from November’s figure of 1,366.
The gender breakdown in the exam was 1,123 women (79 percent) and 304 men (21 percent).
“The revised CHRP program saw 846 candidates examined, marking a substantial increase from the 620 candidates examined in November 2023,” Sharon Kisire, Board Chair, HRMPEB, said during the result release ceremony today in Nairobi.
“The results were equally remarkable. For the CHRP Old Curriculum, average mean scores was 60.89% The mean score of each part was as follows: 60.43% for Part I, 61.65% for Part II, and 60.89 for Part III,” she added.
“The Revised Curriculum also showed commendable results with pass rates of 63.45% in Part I, 63.59% in Part II, and 61.47% in Part III, reflecting a solid grasp of the updated content.”
IHRM Chairperson CHRP Odero Philip Dalmas urged his male counterparts to delve into the HR field.
“I have observed that out of the 1427 candidates who participated in the June 2024 examinations, only 304, which constitutes 21%, were male. This statistic highlights a significant gender disparity within HR programs, where female candidates overwhelmingly outnumber their male counterparts,” he said.
“Given this disparity, I am keen to encourage more men to explore the HR field and consider pursuing the CHRP certification. By doing so, they can contribute to bridging the gender gap and bring diverse perspectives to the HR profession.”
He insisted that the IHRM and HRMPEB must ensure CHRP is recognized locally and globally.
“Now, it is time to have the big conversation about ensuring that the Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) qualification is fully recognized. It’s time to discuss incorporating CHRP into the scheme of service. We need to ensure that only those with CHRP certification are registered as members of IHRM.”
