Woman dies after undergoing Tummy tuck procedure

41 year old Luz Deicy Vélez Estrada traveled from her home in Montreal, Canada, to undergo the operation and a skin tightening surgery in the Colombian capital Bogotá on March 8, but became violently ill later that night and died at a local hospital.

Luz died after undergoing a tummy tuck and skin tightening  surgery on Colombia. She started expelling large amounts of blood after the procedure and died later that night.

After 15 years living in Canada, Luz traveled to Colombia to have an operation with a person she found on the internet called "The Doll Maker,"' her husband Félix Alejandro Aguirre said, referring to renowned surgeon Yina Calderón.

Estrada paid 28 million Columbian pesos, or about $6,770, for the combination surgeries, which left her dead.

Aguierre told how his wife was taken out in a wheelchair just a few hours after the operation, and was unable to speak due to the pain she was in.

The victim's parents took her back to their house and helped her to bed.

However, minutes later she needed to go to the toilet and ended up falling seriously ill.

According to Aguierre, Luz then started expelling large quantities of blood until she eventually passed out in the bathroom.

The Argentine-Canadian widower added: 'Right there, her parents took her to the hospital as quickly as possible.

'They managed to revive her in the emergency room, but a few minutes later, the doctor came out to announce that she had died.'

The grieving husband revealed that the Colombian authorities have yet to return his wife's body for burial in the three months since she died on March 8.

Félix has called on the Canadian embassy in Bogotá and the Colombian embassy in Ottawa to help return his wife's body to Montreal as quickly as possible.
