Kenyan pro boxer Daniel Wanyonyi earned his revenge against Tanzania sensation Karim ‘Mtu Kazi’ Mandonga in a non-title fight at Sarit Centre Expo, Nairobi on Saturday.
The former African Boxing Union light-heavy champion who won on points, sent Mandonga to the canvas twice in the sixth and tenth round to emerge victorious in their highly anticipated heavyweight non-title fight main event.
Mandonga controlled the bout well in the first three rounds showing glimpses of winning it only to be outsmarted in the fourth, sixth and tenth rounds. Referee Julius Odhiambo had no choice but to end the fight after Mandonga showed no signs of continuing.
In January this year Mandonga knocked out Wanyonyi in the fifth round of their first meeting at the Kenyatta International Conference on January 14 this year.
After his redemption last night Wanyonyi’s record stands at (29-15-2) with Mandonga’s record at (6-4-2).
