See who is likely to be the Next Governor of Central Bank of Kenya

The Public Service Commission of Kenya has released a list of six candidates who have been shortlisted for the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya. The new Governor will replace Dr Patrick Njoroge, who has served for eight years and is scheduled to leave office on June 17, 2023. The commission is set to conduct interviews for the candidates on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

The six candidates who made the cut are Dorcas Muthoni Mutonyi, Haron Sirima, Edward Sambili, Nancy Onyango, Adan Abdulla Mohamed, and Kamau Thugge. Each candidate brings with them a wealth of experience and expertise in the field of finance.

Dr Nancy Onyango, one of the candidates, currently serves as the Director of the Office of Internal Audit and Inspection at the International Monetary Fund. With more than 25 years of experience in internal audit, strategic risk management, corporate governance, and IT risk management, she is a highly qualified contender for the position.

Dr Haron Sirima is currently the Director-General of the Public Debt Management Office at the National Treasury and has previously served as the Deputy Central Bank Governor. Edward Sambili has also previously served as the Deputy Central Bank Governor, as well as Planning Permanent Secretary. Interestingly, both Dr Haron Sirima and Edward Sambili were also shortlisted for the job in 2015, which Dr Patrick Njoroge got.

Dr Kamau Thugge previously served as the Permanent Secretary of Treasury and currently serves as a senior advisor and head of fiscal and budget policy in the Executive Office of the President.

Adan Abdulla Mohammed previously served as the Managing Director of Barclays Bank in East and West Africa. In 2013, he was appointed as the Cabinet Secretary for Industrialization of Kenya. He currently serves as Economic Advisor to the President.
