President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Thursday dissolved the entire board of Tanzania Electricity Supply Company (Tanesco), over frequent power outages that have outraged Tanzanians.
The outages are as a result of power rationing in Tanzania, due to reduced water levels in dams and continued repair to power lines.
This has resulted to a 400-megawatt shortfall.
Among those redeployed is Tanesco board chair Major General Paul Kisesa Simuli, who has been sent abroad as Tanzania's ambassador to Uganda.
Dr. Rhimo Nyanzaho, the director of business at Azania bank, has been appointed to replace Simuli.
Just like Tanzania, Kenya has recently experienced countrywide power outages. President William Ruto recently said the blackouts are as a result of faulty lines which his government is working hard to maintain.
The blackouts hit major installations, among them the busy Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
