Safaricom rolls out program to empower SMEs in Kenya

Safaricom Business has unveiled the 8th installment of its ‘Grow with Safaricom Business’ program, aimed at providing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with vital access to resources in technology, e-commerce, and knowledge sharing.

The two-day expo, which brings together 24 SMEs, offers them a platform to showcase their solutions and amplify their presence in the market.

Cynthia Karuri-Kropac, Safaricom’s Chief Enterprise Business Officer, praised the initiative for its significant impact, particularly in enhancing financial inclusion for SMEs across the country.

“This is a monthly forum where we bring experts to SMEs to help them with financial and technological resources. It has had a very positive impact on improving the operations of businesses, especially SMEs,” Kropac stated.

According to Kropac, a vast majority of SMEs lack the knowledge for proper business handling, a factor that has contributed to most of them shooting down, prompting Safaricom to unveil its Grow With Safaricom Business.

Launched in April this year, the program has allowed Safaricom to tailor solutions that meet the unique needs of its customers, including the integration of technology such as artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots that utilize natural language.

These solutions help customers navigate SIM applications and streamline their business operations.

Safaricom has also conducted regional installations across the country, expanding its reach to SMEs that are yet to be onboarded into its financial inclusion ecosystem.

According to the Telco, the ‘Grow with Safaricom Business’ initiative has played a pivotal role in supporting SMEs, helping them scale up and navigate the increasingly digital business landscape.

Safaricom plans to continue rolling out products that cater to the diverse needs of SMEs, ensuring they remain at the forefront of technological innovation and financial inclusion in Kenya.
