Pamzo Pledges to Halt Murang'a in Shabana's Bid for Safety

Shabana FC coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo is bullish his charges will beat hosts Murang’a SEAL in their final league match this season on Sunday, to avoid relegation.

Pamzo’s men who are currently 15th on the league standings will need a win against 13th placed SEAL to ensure their closest challengers in the relegation battle Sofapaka do not overtake them to safety, as only two points separate them.

The former Kenyan international is adamant Shabana will survive, despite toying with the axe for the better part of the season.

“There is no NSL we are going to, believe you me. As a matter of fact, I have already started planning for next season. The whole season we have not played at home because we don’t have a home.

"Some of our home matches we have played in Nairobi, Kisumu and Homabay. We have not enjoyed the benefit of playing home, so we are at ease even as we travel to Murang’a,” noted Pamzo.

If Shabana fails to get a win or draw and Sofapaka wins their game against last place Nzoia sugar, then Shabana will be forced to play the relegation playoffs.

Pamzo believes that his team is ready for the final showdown on Sunday as they have had good momentum after beating Leopards 4-3 and thrashing Bidco 3-0.

“Those were very crucial games for us to stay in the league.”

“On paper, the game against Bidco was a tough one as they are a team that doesn’t concede more than two goals. So scoring three goals shows that we are confident and we have good momentum.”

Pamzo pointed out that for them, avoiding relegation is sweeter than winning the league.

“Right now I am fighting for pride. I won the league with Tusker. At this point, staying in the league is better than winning the league.”

Pamzo urged Shabana fans to come and support them for the final game of the season.
