Olympics organizers apologize for 'Last Supper' parody

The Paris 2024 organizing committee has apologized to Christians after what seemed to be a parody of the Biblical last supper during the opening ceremony. The skit was performed by drag stars who were a showing a parody of Leonardo Da Vinci's last supper painting.
The parody featured drag queens. According to Wikipedia, A drag queen is a person, usually male, who usesdrag clothingand makeup to imitate and often exaggeratefemale gender signifiersandgender rolesfor entertainment purposes. Historically, drag queens have usually beengay men, and have been a part ofgay culture.
The skit also featured a naked singer, a child and a transgender model. The Paris Olympics organizers said their intention was to achieve community tolerance.
“Clearly there was never an intention to show disrespect to any religious group. [The opening ceremony] tried to celebrate community tolerance. We believe this ambition was achieved. If people have taken any offence we are really sorry," Paris 2024 spokesperson Anne Descamps said at a press conference
The skit was performed by Barbara Butch, an LGBTQ+ person who downed a silver head piece at the centre of the table accompanied by other drug queens.
