Nakuru: Man beaten by an irate mob for attempting to snatch an AK 47 from a bank guard

A Nakuru-based man faced the wrath of an angry mob after he attempted to snatch a firearm from a female bank guard on Monday, September 9.

According to a police report obtained by Citizen Digital, the incident unfolded when the man approached officer Dakwin Kipsoo, who was on bank guard duties, seeking directions to a building in Naivasha.

Shortly after, the stranger is reported to have grabbed the officer's AK47 rifle by the muzzle and wrestled the officer with the intent of snatching her firearm.

A fight ensued outside the bank, which attracted the attention of nearby passengers.

Police Constable Ambrose Kipruto, who was also on guard duties inside the bank, noticed the altercation and rushed outside to assist his colleague.

When the stranger noticed that he was unable to snatch the firearm, he attempted to flee towards Nakuru's Central Business District.

His efforts were, however, thwarted as the officers, alongside members of the public cornered him.

Irate over the incident, the angry mob descended on the suspect and rained heavy blows on him. Moments later, the officers managed to restore peace and rescued the suspect from the mob.

"He was arrested and escorted to Naivasha Police station while appearing physically injured by the mob," the report read in part.

The officers on duty and Crime Scene and Investigations (CSI) personnel from Naivasha Police Station visited the scene for processing and documentation.
