KRA urges taxpayers to update phone numbers on iTax to boost compliance

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a notice to all taxpayers to update their phone numbers on the iTax system as part of an ongoing effort to curb tax evasion and enhance service delivery.

KRA has outlined a simple authentication process for taxpayers to follow when logging into the iTax platform.

This process is designed to verify mobile numbers to ensure secure communication and efficient service.

To complete the update, taxpayers should log into iTax using their PIN and password, where the system will display the current registered mobile number.

If correct, users can click “send verification code” to receive a code on that number. If the number is outdated or incorrect, users can update it, enter their current mobile number, and proceed. They will then receive a code to complete the login and verification process.

This notice follows a previous one issued on June 24, 2024, where KRA advised taxpayers to update their personal details to support a data cleanup of personal identification numbers.

Taxpayers are encouraged to update contact information, including physical address, email, business location, residency status, and any directorships or partnerships held.

“KRA would like to notify all registered taxpayers of the ongoing data cleanup exercise for PIN registration details. The exercise aims to ensure the integrity of the taxpayer register, enhancing service delivery for all,” KRA stated.
