Kipyegon breaks third World Record, Omanyala wins 100M race in Monaco

Faith Kipyegon smashes her third World Record in a spam of 2 months after clinching a win in 1 mile at Diamond League in Monaco.

The Olympic champion ran an impressive 4:07.64 to shave almost five seconds off the previous mile mark of 4:12.33 set by Sifan Hassan in 2019.

Ciara Mageean finished second in an Irish record of 4:14.58, placing her fifth on the world all-time list, while Ethiopia’s Freweyni Hailu was third in 4:14.79.

The 29-year-old Kipyegon’s astonishing streak follows a historic eight-days early June when she set world records in the 1500m and 5,000m.

The reigning world champion shattered the world record in the women's 1,500 metres on June 2 at the Florence Diamond League when she ran 3:49.11.

She then produced another stunning performance to crush the world 5,000 mark at the Paris Diamond League the week after, beating world record-holder Letesenbet Gidey of Ethiopia.

Ferdinand Omanyala also scooped a win in the men's 100M race after clocking 9.92 seconds. The win was a first ever Diamond League victory.
