Inter Miami ticket sales plummet after confirmation that Messi will miss upcoming game

Lionel Messi won't be playing this weekend vs. Orlando City - and his absence has caused the price of Inter Miami tickets to plummet online.

Messi left Wednesday's match vs. Toronto just 37 minutes in with muscle fatigue, and head coach Tata Martino announced afterwards that he'd be missing on Sunday - with his status for the US Open Cup in question as well.

Now, according to TickPick, the ticket market has adjusted to that news with the 'get-in' price for the Orlando game just $50.

Prior to that news being announced, tickets on the site for the game were as much as $177 to get in - 71 percent more.

The average price for the game before Thursday was a whopping $325.

According to TickPick, someone even paid $1,220 each ($2,440 total) for two tickets in Row A of section 35.

Inter Miami fans were seen streaming for the exits immediately after Messi was substituted off on Wednesday night.

The worrying change also came just two minutes after another one of the team's best players - Jordi Alba - also left the field in some discomfort.

In the immediate aftermath of the double substitution, fans were caught on camera heading for the exits, leading to speculation that they were heading home with Messi no longer on the field.

That may not have been the case, though, after other fans suggested they were simply trying to beat the lines for the food and drink stands, with halftime fast approaching.

On social media, one wrote: 'It gets busy at halftime for food,' while another added: 'I'm sure they were coming back.'

Elsewhere, one supporter had a more negative view of the clip, writing: 'These are not Inter fans, these are Messi fans. I love the fact the GOAT plays for my hometown team but these people are the most annoying you’ll ever meet.
