"I can also support him" Raila speaks on endorsing Kalonzo for the 2027 elections

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga has cleared the air on the blurry political future of the coalition amid speculations on a change of the flagbearer in the 2027 polls.

Speaking during a burial in Kitui County on Saturday, Raila hinted at pulling his weight behind Wiper Partly leader Kalonzo Musyoka who has been deemed to be his successor in the coalition's political race.

Raila however noted that the coalition is still holding deliberations on who will take the leadership mantle in the ext election cycle, urging the coalition's supporters to remain patient.

"We are united...We will agree. What is wrong with Kalonzo being a candidate? I have not said that Kalonzo cannot be a candidate, I have come from far with him he has supported me and I can also support him," he said.

He added that the coalition's main interest is clinching the presidency in the next polls and they will announce their final decision at the opportune time.

Meanwhile, Kalonzo has asserted that he will remain loyal to the coalition and will remain devoted to upholding its unity despite his announcement that he will not back down from vying for the top seat.

He has vowed that he will pave the way for nobody in the race, as has been his norm in previous elections, indicating that missing out on the ballot would mean his retirement from politics.

The political climate within the coalition has however remained jittery as a section of leaders have intimated that Raila Odinga, the coalition's leader, might be fronted again as the flagbearer.
