Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has brushed off claims that African Union Commission Chairperson Candidate Raila Odinga's involvement in government will destabilize his footing in the government.
Gachagua insists that he is backing Odinga's camaraderie with his boss President William Ruto, dispelling any infighting within government.
Speaking during the burial of former Nacada CEO Victor Okioma in Nyabomo village, Trans-Nzoia County on Friday, he firmly asserted his position in government, maintaining that he will not be forced out by politicians who fiercely oppose him.
His statement comes after a section of Leaders from his political backyard in the presence of the President threw political barbs towards him in what has further exposed the cracks in the Mt Kenya Politics.
"I am firmly in the government. I am like metal, and I am not concerned about those joining the government," Gachagua said.
Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya echoed his sentiments, pointing out the vital role the DP plays in calling for regional unity.
"There is nothing wrong about calling for regional unity our problems are unique and that is why i am rallying the western region," Natembeya noted.
The Deputy President also defended the government over the delayed disbursement of funds to the counties saying that the government is currently operating on lean funds emphasizing the need to collect taxes to support county operations.
