"I’m not interested" Kindiki distances self from ongoing succession politics by section of Mt Kenya leaders

Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kithure Kindiki has distanced himself from the ongoing politics about succeeding Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua by a section of Mt Kenya leaders.

In a statement shared via his official Facebook account, the CS shot down the plot to succeed the DP saying it is a blot on the maturity of the country's democracy.

He went on to state that political talks about the 2027 Election or other future elections a year after a General Election are tactless, anti-people and primitive.

"Political talk about the 2027 or other future elections a year after a General Election is tactless, anti-people and primitive. It is a blot on the maturity of our democracy. President Ruto has assigned me a role of championing his administration's programs for the transformation of our country into a sustainably safe homeland for this and future generations," he stated.

While criticizing the move, Kindiki affirmed that he was focused on his role which he says demands relentless focus and total abstinence from all manner of distracting misadventures.

Further, he stated that the aforementioned debate must come to an end but should it continue, his name should be kept out of it.

"This sensitive role demands relentless focus and total abstinence from all manner of distracting misadventures. The ongoing debate ought to stop, but if it must proceed, I respectfully request that my name should not be dragged in it. May God bless Kenya," he added.
