Hard-fighting Gor Mahia managed a 1-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks in a Football Kenya Federation Premier League match played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Chris Ochieng scored the only goal of the game that ensured Gor Mahia's winning run continued while piling more pressure on Sharks.
From the first whistle, the Sharks managed to deal with a spirited attacking line by Gor Mahia, and the first half ended with a goalless margin.
Coach Johnathan McKinstry had to make a change after Sylvester Owino got injured just before the halftime break, and Joshua Onyango was consequently thrown into action for the reigning champions.
To inject a new impetus into his team, McKinstry made three changes as the second half began: Patrick Sibomana, Bryson Wangai, and Lawrence Juma were withdrawn, with Boniface Omondi, Chris Ochieng, and Ernest Wendo coming on.
Gor Mahia's relentless attacking mission bore fruit in stoppage time when Ochieng struck to break the deadlock.
