West Ham has negotiated a £30.5 million transfer fee with Sassuolo for Gianluca Scamacca.
The 23-year-old Italy striker is expected to become West Ham's fourth senior signing of the summer, with personal details needing to be finalized.
Hammers manager David Moyes has spent the offseason trying to enhance his attacking options, and he has been in contact with Chelsea's Armando Broja.
With 16 goals in 36 games last season, Scamacca was the second-highest Italian scorer in Serie A.
He was given his international debut in September of last year and has since collected seven caps without scoring.
Scamacca's entry would follow the arrivals of Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, and Flynn Downes this summer.
Jesse Lingard, who scored nine goals in 16 Premier League starts for David Moyes' team while on loan from Manchester United in 2020-21, was also offered a contract by the Hammers.
However, the England forward, 29, has decided to join promoted Nottingham Forest on a free transfer after his contract with United expired.
